This 10-hour course is the archived HD footage from Gil's 2020 6-day Livestream Laboratory dissection of Jerry, a male, fixed form. The exploration captured provides a remarkably unique and first-hand look into what a laboratory dissection with Gil is really like!
The Online Dissection Series with Jerry—recorded in HD over the course of a 6-day lab in 2020—explores in detail the textured layers of the body: skin, superficial fascia, deep fascia, perifascia, abdominal viscera, and thoracic viscera—as Gil explores them with a team of somanauts over the course of a 6-day lab. In addition to surveying these layers, you'll also get to see Gil explore the intact pars intima (aka “genitals”), dissect the gluteal muscles and deep six lateral rotators, tour the abdominal and thoracic organs (including seeing the artifacts of open-heart surgery), perform an abdominal evisceration, and tour the brain, cranial nerves, and spinal cord.
Course Outline
Orientation Video: Lab tour and orientation to the space and course.
Video 1: Introduction to Jerry, an overview of the skin, and an exploration of how to dissect this remarkable layer.
Video 2: Discussion of superficial fascia and a deep exploration of the male "pars intima"—an amazing opportunity to see an intact male and discuss the impact of circumcision!
Video 3: Exploration of the anterior muscles of the body, as well as dissection of the muscles of the gluteal region. Includes the deep six lateral rotators as well as a glimpse of the sciatic nerve.
Video 4: Tour the anterior muscles of the core, as well as the organs of the abdominal viscera, including the stomach, liver, intestines, spleen, and more.
Video 5: Observation of the thoracic organs such as the heart and lungs, and evisceration of the abdominal organs.
Video 6: Tour of the central nervous system, including the brain, cranial nerves, and a very special view of the spinal cord, in- and ex-situ.
